According to CoinJournal, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed today that President Donald Trump directed various law enforcement agrencies to go after darknet markets like AlphaBay. Sessions and other law enforcement officials discussed the takedown of AlphaBay in a press briefing earlier today.

According to data available on the Bitcoin blockchain, the activation of the long-awaited Segregated Witness improvement is near. There is a countdown thread for the lock-in portion of the BIP 91 activation process on Reddit.

According to CoinJournal, the man accused of being the main administrator behind darknet market AlphaBay had over $8 million worth of bitcoin and altcoins in his possession when he was arrested. A legal complaint against the accused indicated that he also bragged about the purchase of a Porsche on an online forum.

According to a press release, darknet market Hansa Market has been dismantled and seized by the Netherlands Police and the Public Prosecution Service. The Public Prosecution Service is said to have seized more than 1,000 bitcoins from the ordeal.

According to The Morning Call, a man from Montgomery County claims that he wrote software to steal between $40 and $50 million worth of bitcoin. The man told police that he planned to flee to London, England when they arrived at his door last week.
