Ethereum ETF inflows hit $1.06 billion in August

Institutional capital enters Ethereum in stages

Capital enters Ethereum.

US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $1.06 billion in net inflows throughout August. This capital entered the market while ETH price struggled to hold above $2,500. BlackRock’s ETHA leads the category with $8,762.97 million in total assets. On August 21, daily inflows for Ethereum ETFs reached $185 million. However, the demand remains uneven. Grayscale’s ETHE reported $61 million in net outflows on August 2. In July, the group saw $365 million in net inflows, a meaningful reversal after months of losing assets. From July 14 to July 21, the group recorded $196.4 million in net inflows. BlackRock’s ETHA accounted for most of that demand, with $58.3 million on July 14 and $31.7 million on July 17. On July 21, the Ethereum ETF group brought in $37.47 million in net inflows. BlackRock’s ETHA led the day with $52.79 million in inflows, while Fidelity’s FETH saw $15.32 million in net outflows. ETH is the worst performer among major digital assets in 2026.

Demand is uneven.

Although the August rally pushed Ethereum prices up by 36.4% in just twenty-five days, the asset currently trades 50.5% below its all-time high of $4,951.66 reached in August 2025.

Economic friction and supply

Price hits resistance.

Ethereum trades near $2,480 after failing to hold gains above $2,500. The price sits 50.5% below its all-time high of $4,951.66 reached in August 2025. This price struggles against resistance between $2,511 and $2,546. You know ETH underperforms Bitcoin. About 32% of the total circulating supply, or 39.2 million ETH, stays locked in staking. A BlackRock SEC filing reported an activation queue of roughly 4 million ETH as of February 5, 2026. This reduces the liquid float. Standard Chartered estimated that Coinbase’s Base alone removed approximately $50 billion from Ethereum’s market capitalization by diverting transaction fees from the mainnet. The ETH/BTC ratio swept toward 0.033 during the August advance, but it remains below 2025 levels. Wallets holding between 1,000 and 10,000 ETH sold 214,000 ETH last week. Addresses holding 100 to 1,000 ETH reduced balances by 93,000 ETH. Between September 6 and September 7, 116,000 ETH worth more than $300 million left exchanges.

Macro pressure and resistance

Traders wait for US inflation data.

The US August Consumer Price Index report arrives on September 11. This data precedes the Federal Reserve meeting on September 15 and 16. US employers added 162,000 jobs in August, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%. Average hourly earnings increased 0.3% from July. The two-year Treasury yield rose five basis points to 4.38% after the jobs report. Markets are pricing in close to a 60% chance of a rate hike this month. Will L2 growth eventually increase demand for Ethereum data availability, security, collateral, and settlement? Prices stay low.
