VanEck’s approval and the path to a $3,200 Ethereum floor

VanEck’s approval of Ethereum futures ETFs in October 2026 pushes institutional interest toward new levels. This event follows the March 2026 launch of BlackRock’s iShares Staked Ethereum Trust (ETHB) on Nasdaq. The ETHB fund provides an 82% staking yield pass-through to holders. This structure means institutional capital entering the fund also accrues staking rewards. This process reduces the available supply of ETH. In July 2024, nine spot Ethereum ETFs began trading on major US exchanges. Most management fees for these products stay between 0.15% and 0.25%. Grayscale Ethereum Trust charges 2.5%, but the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust charges only 0.15%. Fidelity Advantage Ether saw $137 million in turnover during its debut. Earlier, in June 2025, Ethereum ETFs attracted $1.17 billion in net inflows. These inflows contrast with the $33.1 billion net inflows that Bitcoin ETFs saw in June. The SEC previously denied requests from issuers like Fidelity, BlackRock, and Franklin Templeton to add staking to spot ETH ETFs because of liquidity concerns.

BlackRock’s BUIDL and Tokenized Asset Integration

BlackRock’s BUIDL fund provides liquidity through tokenized fund shares. The fund holds a market cap of $420.91 million on the Ethereum blockchain. The fund contains 420,909,661.55 BUIDL tokens. Moody’s gave this fund an Aaa-mf rating in May 2026. This rating provides institutional confidence in the asset’s stability. The deployment of BUIDL on Ethereum began on March 1, 2024. In a 30-day period, transfer volume on Ethereum for BUIDL reached $179.13 million. The total asset value for BUIDL across nine networks is $2.17 billion. The issuer is the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund Ltd., which is based in the British Virgin Islands. The fund uses the Reg D 506(c) and Investment Company Act 3(c)(7) regulatory frameworks. The custodian is Bank of New York Mellon. You likely know that institutional liquidity requires regulated settlement rails. The convergence of stablecoins and tokenized stocks on Ethereum creates a massive use case for capital.

Technical Support and Macroeconomic Pressure

The $3,200 price floor depends on market stability and liquidity. In 2025, Ethereum reached an all-time high of $4,950. After a decline, the price was near $1,600 in July 2026. While the $3,200 support level is a psychological magnet, traders must monitor whether the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield stays above 5.2%, as higher bond returns compete for the same capital that drives Ethereum’s price. Technical indicators show various trends. In July 2024, ETH found support at $3,400. Bollinger Bands showed an upper band at $3,631.12 and a lower band at $2,852.28. The RSI was 58.34, which is near overbought conditions. Bitcoin trades near $83,000, which influences Ethereum’s movement. Historical data shows the ETH price rose from under $10 to over $700 in 2017. In 2021, the price reached $4,878 during a period of high DeFi and NFT activity.

Layer-2 Scaling and Network Dominance

Layer-2 networks like Arbitrum and Optimism handle significant transaction volume. Robinhood is building the "Robinhood Chain" on Arbitrum to power asset ownership. This development reinforces the position of Layer-2 solutions in the ecosystem. The tension between Layer-2 growth and mainnet value capture remains a central theme. L2 networks capture user activity and transaction fees through sequencer revenue. Ethereum mainnet holds $250-300 billion in total value locked. Staking participation is around 15-18% of the total supply. Ethereum has approximately 120 million unique addresses. The transition to proof-of-stake in September 2022 reduced energy usage by nearly 100%. This change makes ETH a yield-generating asset. Will the expansion of Layer-2 networks eventually diminish the value of the Ethereum mainnet?
